New Premises for Stroud Town Council: Locking Hill changes hands

Stroud Town Council has taken a significant step in enhancing its service to the community by purchasing new premises. The former Locking Hill Surgery is now owned by the Town Council on behalf of the community of Stroud Town, marking a new chapter in local governance and community engagement.

The acquisition demonstrates the Council's commitment to improving its facilities and accessibility. Work has started on preliminary improvements to the building, including electrical works and Health and Safety checks.

The Mayor of Stroud emphasised the significance of this move, stating:

"We're really excited about this new acquisition! This building will significantly enhance our ability to serve the community. With new spaces for our community development officers to conduct their work, and new meeting rooms available for public hire, we're poised to improve our services dramatically.

My fellow councillors and I are particularly enthusiastic about the opportunities this creates for better partnership working with other organisations. We're confident this move will bring tremendous benefits to Stroud, allowing us to engage more effectively with the residents and drive positive change. The Town Council is our most local tier of government and there to help with issues people really care about on a day-to-day basis; this building is for everyone and regenerating it just makes good sense."
