Join us for Big Butterfly Count: Stroud New Cemetery 24th July 12.30
Stroud Green Spaces Team's next Big Butterfly Count Event will be held on Wednesday 24th July from 12pm at Stroud New Cemetery. This location has been identified as one of the most promising sites for observing a diverse range of butterflies and day-flying moths.
Pete Bradshaw commented on the upcoming event, "Stroud New Cemetery is a biodiversity hotspot in our community. Its varied habitats and abundance of nectar-rich wild flowers make it an ideal location for butterfly enthusiasts of all ages. We anticipate participants will have some truly satisfying sightings here."
Participants are encouraged to bring their own smartphones with the Big Butterfly Count app pre-installed. As with the previous event, Green Spaces Rangers will be on hand to provide guidance and educational insights. There will also be paper spotter guides for those who prefer to count without the app.
All are welcome. There is some, limited parking at the venue. The spotting will be conducted away from the graves in a re-wilded portion of the cemetery.
For those unable to attend the event, information on how to participate in the Big Butterfly Count independently can be found at butterfly-conservation.org. The count continues until August 6th, giving everyone ample opportunity to contribute to this important conservation initiative.
