As is typical for many towns in the UK, Stroud New Cemetery is running out of space for burials, so the Town Council are exploring options for extending the operational span of the remaining plots.
We have approximately 50 coffin burial plots remaining, which are likely to last only three more years. We would like to consult with you about how to manage the remaining plots.
Within the new cemetery there is also a piece of land laid to grass that has previously been used to bury non-toxic building waste, this will be referred to as 'built-up land' in the survey. The land is positioned at the bottom of the hill in Stroud New Cemetery. Our initial investigations indicate that this land is unlikely to be suitable for use as additional burial ground.
Some of the questions you will be asked are about management of the built-up land in the future. The choices made regarding use and the costs involved would have an impact on the council tax payments of people living within the parish.
This survey is now closed.
