The Mayor is having a well deserved rest so our CEO Helen Bojaniwska is taking over his weekly blog for him.On Friday 6th September, I had the pleasure of joining councillors and Gloucestershire County Council staff at Merrywalks for an in-person engagement session about the proposed transport hub improvements. It was heartening to meet so many residents and address their questions directly. Your enthusiasm and insightful feedback are invaluable as we work to transform this vital area into a user-friendly, accessible, and inviting transport interchange. The proposed enhancements are extensive, including new high-quality bus shelters, real-time passenger information displays, improved lighting, CCTV, and a more comfortable waiting environment. We're also exploring additional features like secure cycle storage, parcel collection, and a bike repair station. This project, funded collaboratively by Gloucestershire County Council, Stroud District Council, and Stroud Town Council, represents a significant investment in our town's infrastructure.Your voice matters in shaping these improvements. I encourage everyone to participate in the online survey and share your ideas on the interactive map before September 9th. Visit the Have Your Say Gloucestershire website to contribute your thoughts. In other news, the Mayor, Councillor Tony Davey had the pleasure of attending the opening of the new Night Angels charity shop. This volunteer-based organisation provides crucial safety services for women in Stroud, with plans to expand to Gloucester. If you can spare a day a week to volunteer, please reach out to them – your support can make a real difference.Lastly, I'm pleased to report that our Town Council premises relocation is progressing well. The Green Spaces Team will be the first part of the Council team to relocate to their new base at the former Locking Hill surgery.
