The Stroud Town Council Community Development Team is stepping in for the Mayor while he enjoys a well-deserved holiday!

It is a busy season for us, as we plan how best to support our community groups and residents through the winter months, but our big news is the arrival of Gina Moppett, our fantastic new Community Development Support Officer. You may spot Gina out and about over the coming weeks as she visits various community spaces – do come and say hello!

Last week, Gina and I visited the brilliant Middle of the Hill Community Group to meet residents and volunteers. We were also treated to a tour of the biodome at the Stroud 'Top of Town' Community Hub, where the community grows a fantastic array of vegetables. These are used to create delicious meals for everyone to enjoy, and the Hub is always expanding, recently hosting a Fun Day and adding a regular Forest School provision for young people.

In other exciting news, The Trinity Rooms Community Hub (TRCH) is hiring for two new roles: Community Development Lead and Building Facilities Lead. These part-time roles are perfect for anyone passionate about community work. Having worked closely with TRCH, I can say it's a rewarding experience! More information at: stroudtrinityrooms.org.

Other highlights this month include running the Chapel Street Community Café, thinking about how we can better support older residents, learning all about the new SDC crowdfunding platform and gearing up for our youth participatory budgeting project. Busy, but we love it!

If you have a project you are passionate about or changes you would like to make in the local area please get in touch!

Laura Beattie Community Development Officer.
