Consultations and Highways Committee
This is our busiest committee, meeting every month. It has the difficult task of responding to the hundreds of consultation documents that the council receives every year. The majority of these relate to planning applications for which the council can only comment upon. Final decisions usually lie with Stroud District Council.
The Committee also deals with matters relating to highways and road safety, but ultimate responsibility for these areas lies with Gloucestershire County Council and Gloucestershire Constabulary.
Areas of responsibility:
- To comment on planning applications (including appeals) in the town as Statutory Consultee, and any applications in other areas where the development would affect the well-being of the town and its residents.
- To comment on licensing applications (including appeals), and any applications in other areas where the license would affect the well-being of the town and its residents.
- To comment on highway schemes in the town or other areas where the proposals would affect the well-being of the town and its residents.
- To comment on such other consultations from national, county or district authorities as are likely to impact on the town and environment.
- All matters relating to highways, including routine issues and major improvement schemes.
- All matters relating to road safety
The Consultations and Highways Committee may also engage in pre-application consultations. Stroud Town Council has adopted the Stroud District Pre-Application Community Involvement Protocol. Applicants may find Examples of Community Involvement helpful. To arrange a pre-application consultation please contact the Assistant Clerk.
