Serving the people of Stroud Town to create a thriving, sustainable community

Community Committee

Established in January 2020, the overall purpose of this committee is to support and empower the community in Stroud to bring about social change, improve the quality of life in the local area and shape their own futures. The Committee manages funding for community organisations and projects. The Committee meets four times a year.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Community development engagement and consultation (other than specifically in relation to Green Spaces)
  • Delivery of the council's cultural strategy
  • Awarding and monitoring grants from the Small Grants, Arts and Culture, and Community Support funds
  • Awarding and monitoring service level agreements
  • Councillor recruitment
  • Support for projects and organisations in Stroud which promote:
  1. physical and mental wellbeing
  2. participation in sport
  3. choices and behaviours that benefit future health
  4. community safety
  5. democratic engagement
  6. the provision of high quality housing to meet a range of needs
  7. equality for everyone
