Sue has lived in Stroud since 2019 and was originally co-opted on to Stroud Town Council in 2021.

Her career background is in writing and editing. She studied journalism in Cardiff and later worked on local newspapers in Hertfordshire, before moving into corporate communications and later business magazines. She has also worked as a sub-editor on two national newspapers.

She is now freelance and works part-time as the press officer for Stroud District Green Party.

Sue has a BA Hons degree in English & History from the Open University and also has professional qualifications in PR and journalism. She is a member of the National Union of Journalists and is a strong supporter of the trade union movement.

Sue's hobbies include genealogy, songwriting and taking part in pub quizzes. She enjoys volunteering at the Sub Rooms and playing recorder as part of the flute section of the Stroud Red Band.

Sue loves the vibrant artistic and cultural life of Stroud, its unique industrial heritage, and the strong eco-friendly ethos promoted by so many local organisations.

She has a particular fondness for the town council-managed Old Cemetery nature reserve and the way biodiversity and wildlife are being encouraged there.

As a keen walker, perhaps Sue's favourite thing about Stroud is how easy it is to walk for miles locally on public footpaths. She is concerned about how public access to open spaces is increasingly at risk and is a founder member of the Heavens Valley Action Group, which seeks to preserve public access to this much-loved beauty spot on the edge of the town.
