Cemeteries and Churchyards
New Cemetery
The New Cemetery is located off Horns Road. It is laid out as a lawn cemetery which means that over time graves spaces are levelled and grassed over for ease of access and future maintenance. It is the Council's objective to ensure that the New Cemetery remains a presentable and respectable place for all who visit, whilst also recognising its role as grassland and wildlife habitat.
For more information about burials including cemetery regulations and guidelines for memorials please see our burial service pages.
Old Cemetery and Local Nature Reserve
- Old Cemetery and Local Nature Reserve
The Old Cemetery lies to the south of Bisley Road. It includes many historic memorials and a Victorian Chapel of Rest. It is a Local Nature Reserve, home to some very special Cotswold wildlife including rare lichens, beetles, badgers and glow worms.
Holy Trinity Churchyard and St. Laurence Churchyard
These churchyards are closed for new burials and remain in the ownership of the respective churches.
The management of these areas balances their importance as natural habitats and their contribution to biodiversity with the requirements of public access.
