Serving the people of Stroud Town to create a thriving, sustainable community

About the Plan

The plan was developed by a group of local volunteers working with Stroud Town Council to shape the future of the town centre. We included people who live, work, shop, enjoy and have an interest in Stroud town centre. Our Steering Group had an independent chair and members with a range of skills and expertise to manage the process of preparing the plan.

Our Steering Group

The Steering Group worked to agreed Terms of Reference and had responsibility for:

  • overall control
  • guidance and support
  • co-ordination
  • coherence
  • making progress reports to the Town Council

A register of interests of members of the Steering Group was compiled and made available for inspection at the Town Council office.

Our Budget

The project had a budget of £43,190 inclusive of a Locality grant of £6,995, received in 2014, and a further Locality grant of £8,000, awarded in June 2015, and support from Stroud Town Council. The budget paid for events, venue hire, publicity, surveys, consultancy support, training, materials and a part-time administrator. Technical support was provided by a lead consultant engaged by Locality. The costs of the independent examination and referendum were met by Stroud District Council.
