The Tourist Information Centre will be closed from Saturday March 16.
The temporary closure is ahead of the official handover of the venue from Stroud District Council ownership to Stroud Town Council. It is to allow new phone and computer systems to be installed.
Stroud Subscription Rooms is temporarily closing its door as the final planning is carried out to keep the venue in public ownership.
Stroud District Council will transfer the building to Stroud Town Council and the business and staff to the Stroud Subscription Rooms Trust. “The Trust has some fantastic events planned for following the transfer and we want to ensure people book tickets and truly get behind this community venture,” said Stroud Town Mayor Kevin Cranston.
Among the events coming up at the Sub Rooms are: Tweedy’s Illusion Confusion (April 6), Treasure Island (April 10), Jan Wobble (April 13) and the powerful First World War inspired theatre production War In Mind (April 12).
The new website: www.thesubrooms.co.uk will go live on March 20.
Stroud District Council leader Doina Cornell said: “I am pleased that the Subscription Rooms will remain in public hands. This handover period is essential to allow for the transfer to take place and help get the new operation off to a flying start.”
The Sub Rooms are due to be transferred to the Trust and Stroud Town Council on March 28.
From Wednesday March 20-28 the Subs booking office will temporarily move to the Stroud Town Council office in London Road. It will be open from Monday-Saturday from 10am-2pm.
