Stroud Town Council is delighted that Stroud Library has been listed as a community asset.
The Town Council is reviewing assets and making application for those that of particular value to the community.
“The Library is an important asset to Stroud and it is only right that it is included in the list of the town’s assets,” said Town Mayor Kevin Cranston.
“The review is an ongoing project at the Town Council and does not in any way suggest there is a threat to the service. It is simply adding the library to our list of buildings and land which the Town Council considers of value to the community.”
Under the Assets of Community Value legislation, there is a six-month moratorium on the disposal of any land or building listed. This ensures the community has time to get organised and raise funds.
