Stroud Town Council is launching a competition to design a bumper sticker or a banner for Road Safety week.
The idea came about in response to community concerns raised at a meeting of the Road Safety Group.
Residents from across the parish are worried about driver speeds and anti-social driving behavior.
Whilst this may be a small minority it has a big impact on our community.
The Town Council would like to receive designs for bumper stickers which encourage drivers to slow down or obey the speed limit.
By making these different and eye-catching from off the shelf designs the Town Council hope to involve the community and to ensure drivers don’t immediately zone out from commonly visible messages.
Bumper stickers can be any shape, colour or design although are commonly rectangular and approximately 8 x 28cm.
Road Safety week 19-25th November 2018 focuses on safety for cyclists.
The Town Council would welcome designs which highlight the issues of cycle safety and will be pursuing a range of measures with cyclists and drivers, in partnership with the police in order to ensure that all road users can safely and confidently share the roads.
The printed banner will be displayed on Merrywalks footbridge in November and all entrants will have been assumed to have given their permission for the use of their designs.
Closing date for entries is Thursday 25th October 2018.
