County councillor Sarah Lunnon told Stroud town councillors that the Stroud road was due to be resurfaced this summer but now that is unlikely to happen before 2015.
The major reason, said Councillor Lunnon, is that work is due to be carried out on the electric supply to prevent power outages.
That means the Highways Authority will not have time as all work in Cainscross Road has to be completed during the school summer holidays.
The town council has requested that the potholes be repaired as a matter of urgency.
Cllr Lunnon supports the town council’s request to ensure the road is in a condition fit for all road users, although she noted it is those on two wheels that are most at risk.
“To encourage sustainable transport we need roads fit for purpose,” she said.
