Councillors say residents are fed up of hot hatch drivers who speed around the town, revving their engines, playing car stereos at high volume and congregating in car parks.
During a recent council meeting councillors were asked to highlight their priority issues that they would like the police to address.
Anti-social driving came top of the list.
“The anti-social use of vehicles is spoiling our town for the residents and visitors,” said town mayor Kevin Cranston.
“While we are focussing on those ‘hot hatch’ drivers we are appealing for everyone who drives on our roads to be more considerate.
“That means turning down radios, watching your speed and observing the town’s new 20mph limits and to be more considerate to cyclists and pedestrians who share the road with you.”
