The town council is providing free Christmas trees and holders to businesses.
It is working with the Stroud Chamber of Commerce to make sure the town looks festive this year.
“It’s a free tree and holder for the building and we can assist people with sorting the lights too,” said Fiona Mills-Carlyon of Moonflower and chamber vice chair.
“This is a great opportunity for the town to pull together to ensure that Stroud is looking its best this Christmas and we make the town an attractive place for shoppers to visit.”
Town mayor Amanda Moriarty said the town council had in the past put up lights in the town centre. But the lights are outdated and no longer suitable for further use.
“We appreciate that the lights add to the atmosphere of the town and we are committed to supporting our local shops,” said Amanda. “That’s why we are working with the chamber and providing free trees and holders.
“The cast iron holders will be made by Gloucester Street Forge so it will be very much a truly Stroud celebration.”
