The town, which employs 11 people in full time and part-time positions, is committed to paying the living wage which is £7.65. Currently the minimum wage is £6.31.
“It is crucial that the town council leads by example and treats our team with respect,” said town mayor Amanda Moriarty. “Ensuring that people receive a reasonable wage and are not being exploited is central to creating a fair society.”
The living wage is calculated by experts who have assessed what is needed to cover the basic cost of living, and is updated annually.
