Stroud Town Council helps fund weekly play sessions at Archway Gardens play area and Mason Road.
The sessions are run by Play Gloucestershire, a children’s charity that specialises in outdoor play.
From April to June this year, Play Gloucestershire provided 64 hours of community play involving 67 children at Archway Gardens and Mason Road.
Described as an outdoor youth club, Play Gloucestershire, which runs the Rangers scheme, offers a wide range of activities for young people aged 7 to 14.
Pip Levett, Director of Play Gloucestershire, said: “One of the girls at Mason Road brought along her mum. She reached for her purse to pay and I explained we are funded so our service is free for the kids. She was amazed. ‘But nothing is free these days,’ she exclaimed.”
The holiday play sessions at Archway Gardens are on Thursdays from 10am-4pm and run weekly from July 21. The sessions at Mason Road run on Tuesdays.
