Volunteers from Stroud Valleys Project worked with children from Bumblebees Playgroup to plant sunflowers in Trinity Pocket Park in Field Road.
They also cleared the area of weeds and brambles before the July 8 judging day.
Stroud Town Council took over the pocket park, next to the Trinity Rooms, in 2009. Once used as allotments, the park was derelict for many years before volunteers, working with Stroud Valleys Project, converted it into an open space.
“The SVP volunteers are great supporters of our pockets of green space in Stroud and ensuring they are welcoming both to residents and to the wildlife which use them.
Last year Stroud in Bloom scooped gold for the second year running in the Heart of England regional awards.
