The Flies On the Wall Youth Theatre will perform in the Battle For The Winds cultural Olympiad project at Weymouth, which is hosting the windsurfing and sailing events.
The troupe of 45 teenagers were awarded a £445 grant from the town council to pay for their costumes for the event.
Youth theatre leader Jo Bousfield said: “We budget for our year’s projects through the subs we receive but the Olympiad is an extra project. We are so excited to get this grant. We can now order the fabric and get on with the costumes.”
The troupe will be wind gatherers and will accompany a Wind Machine being created by Stroud Art College.
The town council awards grants to a variety of youth and community activities, from £50 to £500.
The Maypole Hall Youth Group received a £500 grant which will go towards scenery and costume for a community pantomime.
The Summer Street Area Community Association were awarded £450 to help pay for a family fun day in August in its Summer Crescent green space. The day will include games, entertainment and a barbecue.
Stroud Community TV received a £300 grant to be used for designing and developing the its website. It is a not for profit independent online TV channel with videos recording and celebrating Stroud.
“Stroud is fortunate to have such a diverse collection of active and fantastic community groups,” said Amanda Moriarty, deputy mayor. “The town council believes strongly that they deserve our support.”
